The Miami OCR just
finished and North Sails dominated the event! They were used in
8 different classes and we got 5 first places, 1 second, 1 third
and 1 fourth. This result is awesome!
Greg Fisher, Moose
McClintock and myself were there helping the teams, checking the
sails for future improvements and learning more about the Olympic
classes. Vince Brun and John MacCausland were also there racing
Stars -- a full staff from North Sails One Design supporting the
Olympic teams.
Here's what's happening
on each class:
Yngling - 90% of the fleet was powered
by North!
Greg and Moose spent a good amount of time helping the girls tuning
the boats and learning more about the rig. They did a great job
-- our sails finished 1,2,3,4 and 5. Even with this great result
we learned that we still can improve our designs. Greg is updating
our Tuning Guide with the new settings.

Europe - 70% of the fleet was powered
by North!
The sails look good and finished 1,2, and 3. Paul Hobson (North
Sails UK) and I spent a couple days checking the Europes and we
are planning to do some changes to make it more forgiving in medium
to heavy conditions. We'll keep the current design for big girls
and guys. We are working on a new Tuning Guide that will come
out soon.

Finn - 80% of the fleet was powered
by North!
Another awesome
result! Our sails got 1,2,4,5,6... We are planning to keep both
designs for 2002 (AP2 and R3+). The North Sails loft interchange
program is making it possible for us to produce the North UK design
that won the Gold in Sydney, here in the US. Contact us for more
details.

470 - 60% of the fleet was powered
by North!
Our sails got 1st
in the men's fleet and 2nd and 3rd in the women's fleet. The new
spinnaker is a success - everybody likes it. Feel free to contact
me for more details.

Star
Clients that chose
the new LC-1 and R-2 Jib said the sails are GREAT! Also joining
the North Star team is Ian Percy (Finn Gold medal in Sydney).
Again, Vince Brun was the #1 of the American team (he used the
new LC-1 main and R-2 Jib). A new tuning guide is coming out soon.
Keep tuned!

2.4 Meter
Tom Brown won
the regatta using North. He was using the Swedish design that
we are now producing in San Diego for the American teams. We now
can offer the the fastest 2.4 Meter sails here in the US!

Tornado Sport
We built our first
set of sails here in San Diego for the Brazilian team Mauricio
Santa Cruz (Snipe World Champion). The sails look good but we
see lots of room for improvements. Mauricio is going to do some
sail testing in Brazil and soon we will have a new design for
the Tornado Sport class.
