	LIGHTNING NEWS Al Terhune Joins North Sails One Design We are proud to announce that Al Terhune has joined our One Design Chesapeake team, working with Greg Fisher and Brian Bissell. Al is a champion one design sailor with numerous victories in multiple classes. A recent North American, Midwinter and Atlantic Coast champion in the Lightning class, Al has also won the US Sailing Championship of Champions, the US Sailing Sears Cup and been runner up in the Flying Scot North Americans. Last year he was fifth in the Etchells North Americans, his first major regatta in the class. Al has a great deal of experience in other classes such as the J/24, E Scow, and Ensign. He presently owns and campaigns his own J/22 as well. Al said: “I am very excited for this tremendous opportunity to join the North One Design Team and to be a part of North’s future. I love sailing and to be able to share my passion with North Customers and to be able to work with Vince and the entire One Design team is thrilling!” Below are the upcoming Lightning regattas that Al will be attending. However it may also be accurate!! 13 great races in terrific breezes at 3 very hospitable venues. Ched Proctor, and his team of Jay Mueller and Jim Barnash, were able to outlast several other top teams to bring home his 6th Southern Circuit championship. It was exciting to see that 38 of the 42 boats that participated in the Circuit chose North Sails and all 4 of the North Lightning Team (Brian, Ched, Al and Greg) were at all or part of the event to assist with tuning tips, boat setup or just to chat Lightning sailing. We all had a great time!! Here are some North Facts from the 2007 Southern Circuit: North Sails were used on 38 of the 42 boats that completed the entire circuit Complete North inventories were used on 36 of 42 boats that completed the entire circuit. North Sails were 1,3,4,5,6,7 and 7 of the top 10..
